What happens to tablets when someone dies?

[He still doesn't quite make the connection that this call is specifically about Ed and his poor brother's demise, so he's still happily assuming that it's a general enquiry - albeit a more worrying one.]

I think they're collected by the admin, or they might get broken depending how the person-- uh, dies. Why do you ask?

[Is someone he's with dead?]

[Thanks to a certain blood-sucker, Zell leaves his tablet alone for half a hour to work off his frustrations.]

Where do people who die find their tablets?
If it gets destroyed with them.

[A beat of silence, but he only has one real person to work with as evidence here so...]

My brother found his next to him at the morgue.

[He chokes over the word 'okay', because it's really not okay, but he doesn't want Zell to feel guilty about it.]

This guy...@Mnemosyne.
He was suggesting some things and being a jerk about.
But it got me thinking about what happens to the tablets.
I didn't want to ask people who actually went through it.

What did he say? Mnemosyne, I mean.

[It seems like the question least likely to rub more salt in the wound, as anything else just acknowledges what happened to Ed.]

He wanted me to search dead bodies of any companions I have.
I'm not even traveling with anyone, but that would be pretty messed up.

[A pause.]

And now he's trying to piss me off to get me to take apart my tablet.

[armoured]

[Maybe he will have to have a word with Mnemosyne about this, it sounds like some dangerous taunting to him and he won't have anyone's communication cut off when dangerous creatures are roaming free.]

I guarantee you wouldn't find a tablet on anyone who's died. Either they won't have got inside in time at night and both them and their belongings will be gone by morning, or it will be a creature like-- like my brother.

[He falters, but maybe it is important information to make sure people know what happens.]

It ate him and everything he had on him, there was nothing we could have done to save him or salvage his tablet.

Yeah. Not to mention that seems pretty wrong, you know?
I'm going to wait until I'm actually traveling with people before I try breaking mine.

[It will help with getting in Zell's head that you shouldn't try to take on a monster.]

[It hurts too much to dwell on it, so he'll brush onwards and focus on the more important bit of Zell's response.]

If you really think it would help to break it, then definitely don't do it until you're with others who have agreed to share theirs with you in case of an emergency.

I'm pretty sure I can get it back together.
Unless they have some kind of fail safe.
But yeah, I definitely won't unless I have others with me.

Some people just like being a pain in the ass.
I think he's one of them.
Thought I saw him being a big jerk to Kain's and Zack's friend.
Those kind of people are best to ignore.

[Not that Zell will ever be able to ignore anyone...]

Not if they're trying to encourage something that could get people hurt, or worse, I can't just ignore that.
