[ Especially since he like. Indirectly threatened your life, buddy. Not that Angel's going to mention that - why make him worry? ]

[That's the best he can do. He can't promise not to trust anything her Dad says, not when they're both so new to him and he doesn't even know one side of the story let alone both, but caution is something he can promise.
He might normally have asked about what happened if she was willing to talk, but he still can't quite muster the energy for that so soon after Ed's death.]
When I talk to him next time, I'll won't tell him anything about where you're heading.
[When, not if. He won't ignore anyone here even if they're dangerous, just as Tim. At least talking to her has roused him a little from his sorrow, though? Even if he does still sound weary to the bone.]

[ There's a hint of anger there, and it doesn't quite vanish as her tone grows more concerned. ]
Are you getting enough sleep? You sound tired.
[ And that might be interfering with your judgement. >8CCCC ]
no subject
[He brushes past that question, because he still isn't used to sleeping at all so it's most irrelevant at this moment.]
Even if he's a bad guy, like you say, he's still trapped here like the rest of us and I won't leave anyone isolated and without help.
no subject
Because if there is, I can almost guarantee that he's done it.
[ Her voice is getting colder by the second. KID U DON'T EVEN FUKKEN NO. ]
no subject
What has he done?
[That might be a bit blunter than he meant it to come out, but his tone isn't unkind.]
What... why are you scared of him?
no subject
[ Al isn't the only one who can skim past questions he doesn't want to answer. The more she tells him, the more danger he'll be in. All her other new friends, too - Jack would assume if she told one person, she could have told them all, right? ]
You don't have to trust me. I only ask that you don't trust him.
no subject
[He feels sorry for her, he really does. Being scared of your own family must be terrible, and he can't help but get horrific flashes of Shou Tucker when thinking of what a father can do to their daughter.]
Nobody is going to let him do anything to you here.
[Also glossing past any promises still, he can't give them when he doesn't even have a reason beyond vaguer fear.]
no subject
[ She smiles again - a tight, thin-lipped little thing instead of her usual uninhibited beaming. Well, she tried. She'll just have to keep heading off Jack herself. ]
Please try and get more sleep, okay. Don't give me more to worry about.

[Whoops, that might have sounded a bit more vehement than necessary, bursting out in fire and passion. Whether the danger comes from Angel's father, the monsters, or anyone else, Al is through letting people get hurt on his watch.
It even makes him sound ever so slightly more grown up, just because of the level of conviction buried in there amongst the pain that's made him need to promise this. Her request for him to sleep goes unheeded now that some cracks are forming in his calm.]
I'm tired of everyone having to be worried and scared all the time, I'm sick of seeing people I care about get hurt or-- or die. Whether it's him or anyone else, I'll fight to protect every last person here so nobody gets hurt any more.

[ The smile's a little warmer now, at least. Albeit still pretty sad. Al, you dear sweet innocent child. :C ]
I hope you succeed. This place is in desperate need of a hero. Maybe it's you.
no subject
There are a lot of heroes here.
[Snowhell is the land of hero complex.]
I'm sorry, you just wanted directions to food and I-- sorry.
no subject
[ She completely fails to resist the urge to briefly hug her tablet, because she is a fucking dork. Hopefully Al can tell what she's doing, or it's going to look like she's just really eager to show him her glowy chest tattoo. ]
You get to a point where you just can't let terrible things keep happening to people, no matter what it costs you. I get it. Don't be sorry.
no subject
He even chuckles, it's weak and quiet, but it's genuine.]
Thanks.
[For understanding, for being so sweet. He should probably clarify further, or say something that isn't a dumb one word response, but he can't find the words right now.]
no subject
[ She's not totally sorry. BUT SHE IS KINDA. Pls don't get chopped up into scrap metal, friendo. ]
no subject
[Her because of mysterious Dad issues, and him because of corpse Ed issues.]
no subject
[ Growing boys need their eight hours, ok. AT LEAST! ]

[He pauses, reluctant to open that wound again when it's still so fresh. But it's not exactly a secret with his post about it yesterday, so...]
--my brother died yesterday.
no subject
Oh, I'm sorry - I'm sorry. That I was such an a-- a. Such a jerk. You don't have to talk about it, I - I'm so sorry.
no subject
[He didn't mean to make her feel guilty.]
You... you actually made me feel a bit better.
no subject
Are you saying you want me to be a big old jerk at you more often?
[ TEASING IS FUN. ]
no subject
[He manages a bit more lightness in his voice, and it's very nearly genuine.]
I have to go, we're about to move-- but... but thanks.
