I wish I knew. I wish I knew what was going on in my head when I said all that stuff. I really seemed to believe all of it.

I'm sorry, I wish I could help more with that, but-- I don't know whether it's true or not.

[He hesitates, but he wants to help and that's always been what pushes him to share.]

I know what it's like, sort of, to not know if what you believe about yourself is real. Someone I know, he convinced me that I wasn't really who I thought I was, that I was just a puppet creation of my brother. It was really scary, not knowing if my whole self was a lie.

Holy shit, dude. Who the fuck does something like that? I mean -- at least you know now, right? You came out the other side of it knowing who you are. You don't seem like someone who thinks he isn't real.

Yeah, I came out of the other side of it. My brother kicked my butt about it, and we talked about a memory that I had that he didn't. It proved that he hadn't made me, because I could remember these things that he had forgotten.

[But it had definitely been a rough few days.]

But I meant that I know what it's like, to not be sure of your reality, so-- hang in there. I don't think it matters if you're a god or not, as long as you're still you.

...I get you. I get what you mean. And the others...people have made it sound like the whole blood thing wasn't normal-crazy-me, just...extra-crazy-me. I think I can live with everything except the blood stuff.

That sounds good, because I think we all like you when you're not keen on blood sacrifices.

As far as conditions for love and affection go, I think that's a fair one.

Me too. I like a lot of people, even people that have done some pretty bad things, but I tend to try and dissuade any kind of blood sacrifices.

[He's only half teasing, because that's-- actually kind of a worry back home.]

[She takes it for a joke, though, because who in real life does blood sacrifices?]

So maybe try to stick to not doing it any more, and then nobody will have an issue with you, okay?

Believe me, it's a standard I'm happy to keep. I just gotta hope I don't...do whatever that was again. But I guess if I don't die again it shouldn't be a problem, right?

Right, I think as long as you hold onto yourself and how much you don't want to become that, there's no real danger of it happening in any other way. And if it does because you-- because the town alters you, you have to try and hold onto the fact that it's not really you.
